Thank you....
As we suspected Domi did not make it into the night. She passed away shortly after her last post. Although she was struggling to breathe, we don't believe she was in any pain. It was not until recently that the cancer really seem to start bothering her. On our last car ride home, she was not able to stand up and "herd" the passing cars like she enjoyed but she still continued to watch them, eyes sparkling and ears busy. The cancer may have worn out her body but the Border Collie spirit continued to shine.
Looking back, it's hard to believe that she was the same sad, untrusting dog with the tucked up tail that I brought home from the shelter almost 3 years ago. It must have been very hard for her to go from a family of nearly ten years to spending 2 months in the shelter. It took a little time but the true Domi did come out. She was a very beautiful girl who seemed to touch every person she met. Tough guys melted under those eyes, kids who were afraid of dogs felt safe enough to pet her and all felt like they had a special connection with Domi. I don't know how many times I had people offer to take her should we no longer be able to keep her, even with the cancer.
Thank you to everyone who has come by her blog and left such comforting comments. Thank you especially to Raising Addie, Scout & Freyja and Tabatha and Echo for their very touching tributes. The Dog (and kitty) Blogging community is a very wonderful group and we are very proud to have been part of it. I hope to continue to discover great blogs and to continue to read about all the wonderful pets and their special owners.
I'm off to cuddle with Stella who is having the hardest time of all, trying to figure out where her much adored Domi is and why we haven't brought her home yet. Poor Stella hates to be alone and had a very long day.
Thank you all again for your warm thoughts,
Domi's girl
PS
I added one of the last photos of Domi I took of her, just a couple of days before she went to stay at my parents.

Domi was soooo very special to soooo many people. We were glad to know her and wish we could have met her in person. Thank you for creating Domi's blog and sharing her with the world!
The wonderful people from 2 dogs 2000 miles asked me to give you this message:
"I just read Domi’s last post. So sad. Please let her family know that they are in our thoughts and prayers."
Please give Stella an extra BIG hug from us.
Lots of Luv & Kisses

We heard about Domi from Khyra. We are so sorry for your loss, but we bet Domi is charming all kinds of people and critters over the bridge. We are sending gentle headbutts and purrs for all of your hearts to heal.

To answer your question, yes, they got some steak and a little baked potato, too. They know I'm not going to leave them out. In fact, I feel all the animals before I sit down to eat so when they make those faces at me I don't feel guilty thinking they are starving!☺
BTW, if you want another smile, my cat, Forrest, blogged today on my kitty blog. Take a peek☺
You know, there will come a day - don't know when - that you'll hear that familiar jingle of collar tags. You'll look around, just like you have many times before, and you will see a faint shadow. It will be fleeting and it will disappear and it won't come back.
That will be Domi finally making it across the Bridge. They don't leave us, you know, until they are sure we can go on without them.
Maybe when the time is right Domi will lead you to another senior who needs you and your love. I know she has changed my heart and thinking. My home will be for seniors when the time comes to add another dog.
She made a difference, you know, a big difference and she couldn't have done that without you and the home that you gave to her. There was a reason and a purpose for the meeting and the adoption. I know that all the way into the core of my soul.
We are so sorry for your loss...
Domi is indeed a pretty girl both inside and out, and she totally deserves to win the contest held by the Four Musketeers.
My Border Collie used to drive me nuts whenever she tries to 'herd' passing cars when we take her out, just like your Domi, but after reading your post, I will learn to appreciate the fact that she's young and still has the energy to do that. I will learn to love her funny antics rather than give her a stern 'no'.
Thinking of you during this sad time.
It is a comfort to know that she went to the bridge from her home, surrounded by the people who love her and that she was not in pain.
Domi will be forever alive in our hearts and the hearts of all who loved her.
There is a wonderful site gratefulness.org where you can light candles for memorials, thanks, etc. We are going there now to light candles of gratefulness for having the chance to know Domi. God speed.....
The site is gratefulness.org.
(mum was crying again and gave it as .com instead of .org)
We are so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful lady. The Bridge has received another great pup that is no longer in a distress. Run free lovely Domi.
Oh no...I'm so sorry I didn't come by sooner to say Good-Bye to her. And I am so sad that I didn't even visit her blog as often as she visited mine. This is so sad.
I am gonna miss her so much. She was such a great friend to many of us. She was a warm & caring girl who touched many doggie's & people's hearts.
My heart goes out to you & your family. Domi, we miss you!
We are so sorry to hear of Domi's passing. You gave her a home & love even though she was an "older" dog. God bless you for that! She loved you and will continue to love you in spirit. She will be waiting for you at the Bridge.
With sincere sympathy,
Skye, the Moondance Huskies, kities and mom Joan
You have just provided what every dog and kitty and other family furry in the world deserves: unconditional everylasting love, and a tribute to her to let the world know how wonderful she was as a part of your family. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Through tears, we wish Domi the blessing to Run With the Wind, sweet Girl.
Love,
Jake and Fergi and family
We are two schnauzers from New England and read about Domi from Rocky's blog. We are so sorry for your loss.
Domi was (and is) such a beautiful dog.

We have a question for Domi's girl, what was Domi's full name? You don't have to give a last name (an initial if you would like) but we wanted to include her full name and "Domi" on the 2 dogs 2000 miles shirt.
Just email us how you would like Domi's name to appears on the memorial shirt and we will get the info to them.
Thank you! Your in our thoughts. Please give Stella a big hug from us!
Lots of Luv & Kisses
Addie, Lucie, and Hailey
We are so sorry that Domi had to leave you so soon. We will be thinking of you and your family.

We read about Domi at Rocky's and stopped by. It is so hard to lose a furry. They do so much to brighten our lives and they are very much missed when they are gone. It's wonderful you adopted an older dog and have such happy memories.

I am so very sad to hear of this news. I was one that did not have the priviledge to meet Domi, but I feel their is one more angel amoung us watching out for us all, and by the look of those precious eyes...she will make a wonderful angel! I came by way of Angel Lacylulu who was one of the very first doggies to greet me! Our hearts and tears are with you....
